Getting started

Allow screen capture

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, then enable Remember This. If macOS asks, quit and reopen the app.

Capture a memory

Choose Capture from Remember This, then drag over the screen region you want to save. Only the region you select becomes a memory.

Browser context

Why does macOS request Automation access?

Automation access lets Remember This ask the active browser for the title and URL of the page you chose to capture. It does not grant access to your browser history database. You can deny this permission and continue saving captures without webpage context.

The Open Original button is unavailable

The capture may not contain a source URL, or browser Automation permission may have been denied. Check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.

Pro and purchases

A subscription does not appear

Confirm that you are signed in to the Mac App Store and connected to the internet. Product availability and local pricing are provided by Apple and can take time to refresh. Quit and reopen Remember This, then try again.

I already subscribed

Open the Upgrade to Pro window and choose Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that originally purchased the subscription.

Manage or cancel a subscription

Open the App Store, select your account, then choose Account Settings → Subscriptions. Billing and cancellation are managed by Apple.

Memories, backups, and privacy

Where are memories stored?

Your memory library and searchable OCR are stored locally on your Mac. Optional Pro requests use cloud processing only when you invoke those features.

How do encrypted backups work?

Choose a backup destination in Remember This and keep the recovery information somewhere safe. A lost encryption secret cannot be reconstructed by support.

Can I delete a memory?

Move it to Trash from the Library. You can recover it while it remains there or permanently delete it from Trash.

When contacting support

Including the following helps us investigate quickly:

  • Your macOS version and Mac model.
  • The Remember This version shown in the app.
  • A short description of what you expected and what happened.
  • A screenshot of the error, with personal information removed.

Please do not email private captures, encryption secrets, payment information, or other sensitive data.
